AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Processor
8 Cores | 16 Threads | Max. Boost Clock Up To 5.2 GHz | AMD AM5 Socket
The gaming CPU everyone's talking about. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D combines 8 Zen 5 cores and 16 threads with AMD's 2nd Gen 3D V-Cache, for 104MB of total cache and boosts up to 5.2GHz.
AMD moved the extra cache under the cores this generation, so the chip runs cooler, clocks higher and is fully unlocked for overclocking. In games it's an absolute FPS machine.
Pair it with a high-end GPU, a B850 or X870 board and DDR5-6000, and you've built one of the fastest gaming PCs money can buy.
Best for: Maximum-FPS gaming, esports at very high refresh rates and high-end gaming rigs.
Platform and compatibility
It uses the AMD AM5 socket and works with A620, B650, B650E, B850, X670, X670E or X870/X870E motherboards. AM5 is AMD's current platform, and AMD has committed to supporting it for years, so your board has room for future upgrades.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 9800X3D the best gaming CPU?
It's among the fastest gaming CPUs available, thanks to its 3D V-Cache.
Which cooler should I use?
A 240mm or 360mm AIO, or a high-end air cooler. There's no cooler in the box.
Which RAM is best?
DDR5-6000 CL30, 2 x 16GB or 2 x 32GB.
Which motherboard is compatible?
Any AM5 board works: A620, B650, B850, X670 or X870. B650E, X670E and X870E add PCIe 5.0 for the graphics card. Boards made before this chip launched may need a BIOS update first, so tell us your board and we'll check it.
What RAM should I use?
DDR5 only. A 2 x 16GB DDR5-6000 CL30 kit is the sweet spot for Ryzen on AM5.
